Your Vision of Leadership

In a world where every leader and every following are unique, there is no one-size-fits-all leadership strategy. When assuming a leadership role, the first decision a new leader has to make is what kind of leader they want to become. There are a number of leadership styles and approaches to choose from. My vision of leadership fits with the theory of transformational leadership. With the transformational leadership style, a leader encourages, inspires, and motivate followers to innovate and create change. Transformational leaders lead by conveying a clear vision for the organization, a passion for work, and the charisma to make others feel energized ( Parry & Proctor-Thomson, 2002) . This style of leadership is marked by the ability to inspire positive changes in those who follow. Instead of engaging in micromanagement, transformational leaders lead with trust in their followers (Brown, 2011). They allow their followers to be independent and take authority over the tasks th...

Managing Change

According to Mullins (2010), “change is nothing new and a simple fact of life.” However, different people have different reactions to change. While some people can thrive on the new challenges that change brings, others may resist change due to their attachment to the status quo. The attitude of employees toward organizational change is understood as a psychological tendency employees develop based on their positive or negative evaluative assessment of the change (Lines, 2005). Different employees may have different change attitudes; thus, some may display readiness and openness toward change, while others may remain resistant and cynical. It is widely agreed that people today live in a time of unprecedented change. Today, change in the external world is inevitable and constant. Businesses needs to be swift in adopting to various changes in order to survive in today’s market. Those that refuse to accept changes and undergo transformation on the organizational will not survive. ...

National Cultures and Leadership

When there are differences between individual members of a team on various dimensions, including age, nationality, religion, skills, etc., there would be a diverse team. Overall, researchers suggest that diverse teams in work are more productive as well as better performing. Leadership and Ethics

What is ethical leadership? We take the leader of a software development team as an example to analyze what is an ethical and long-lasting leadership. First of all, the ability of leadership is directly related to the morality of leadership. Ethical leadership should be organized and consider the specific capabilities and tolerance of employees. The work of the team requires planning first. Without a good plan, employees will suffer from inconsistent requirements, which can even slow down the progress of the project. Ethical leaders should not change their plans too much, which will bother employees and cause trouble to the entire project. In addition, ethical leaders should be fully considerate of the actual situation of employees. It is good to have a fixed time schedule every day, but formal mandatory time regulations may undermine the enthusiasm of employees and impair productivity due to formal requirements. It is not right to over-assign too many tasks to a talented employe...
