Leadership and Ethics

 What is ethical leadership? We take the leader of a software development team as an example to analyze what is an ethical and long-lasting leadership. First of all, the ability of leadership is directly related to the morality of leadership. Ethical leadership should be organized and consider the specific capabilities and tolerance of employees. The work of the team requires planning first. Without a good plan, employees will suffer from inconsistent requirements, which can even slow down the progress of the project. Ethical leaders should not change their plans too much, which will bother employees and cause trouble to the entire project. In addition, ethical leaders should be fully considerate of the actual situation of employees. It is good to have a fixed time schedule every day, but formal mandatory time regulations may undermine the enthusiasm of employees and impair productivity due to formal requirements. It is not right to over-assign too many tasks to a talented employee, which will put too much burden on the employee. Finally, remuneration and rewards to employees are also parts of leadership that need to be seriously considered. Without adequate rewards, employees will lose their motivation to work.

The leadership style directly affects the production enthusiasm of the entire team. If there is no ethical leadership and scientific leadership, it is difficult to improve the productivity of the team. For example, when the leader gives a clear and generous reward plan and cashes it out, employees are willing to complete the next task as soon as possible, and even introduce other capable friends to join their team. However, simple exploitation and non-fulfillment of promised bonuses will dampen employees' enthusiasm for production, making it difficult for them to devote themselves to the next task. Ethical leadership can also help teams avoid anti-organizational behavior. For example, when an employee is under great pressure, if the leader does not take the initiative to educate him and reduce his task to a certain extent, he may become ill or resign in a key link, which is terrible for a key link project of.

 

In the question of whether we should lead ethically, the question we debate is whether ethical leadership is necessary in a team? Can ethical leadership help the team improve productivity? If the leader is immoral, can it also reap better economic benefits? When it comes to the two basic principles of ethics, we believe that ethical leadership in the short term seems to be too lenient to employees and will lead to reduced profits. However, in the long run, ethical leadership is conducive to the sustainable development of the project, improves the credibility of the overall organization, and improves employee job satisfaction. We believe that a good leadership model should be ethical and able to empathize with employees. The direct goal of the leader should not only be the benefits of the project, but should include the status of the project members and other external relationships. The leadership model we recognize should include these features: control the workload rather than working hours, allow employees to adjust their working hours within a certain range; provide employees with an interface for feedback, and provide sufficient assistance for difficulties ; Set up a complete reward and remuneration mechanism to encourage employees to earnestly complete their work and honor the rewards in a timely manner.

In the software industry we choose, we believe that a good leadership model for software development should be rewarded according to the workload of each person, rather than strictly recording each person's working time. Try to assign each person's sub-tasks independently instead of multiple people doing a lot of work together. Software development with unclear division of labor and inaccurate division of workload will result in only one or two people completing a large amount of work in the end, and the remaining people will spend a lot of energy in transmitting information.

In summary, we believe that an ethical leader should give full consideration to employees and allocate tasks to employees in a reasonable manner according to the workload. Such a good leadership model can increase the benefits of the project in the long run and maintain the enthusiasm of employees in the long run.
